Winnipeg drug bust nets $2.2M in meth, cocaine
Man, 49, facing trafficking and possession charges after drugs seized from 3 Winnipeg residences: Police

A man is facing trafficking charges after police seized more than $2.2 million in illicit drugs from three Winnipeg homes.
Investigators seized 43 kilograms of meth, nearly 2,000 grams of cocaine and $150,000 in cash during a drug bust that took place on May 15, Insp. Josh Ewatski with the organized crime division said in a news conference Tuesday.
George David MacFarlane, 49, had attempted to ship a kilogram of cocaine outside the city through the mail, but the shipment was intercepted by police, Ewatski said.
MacFarlane was arrested while leaving a home on La Verendrye Street before the bust.
The residence and two other homes were searched that day, leading to the seizure.
MacFarlane is facing charges related to the possession of scheduled substances for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
"The investigation is ongoing … but one can typically assume that with an operation like this it's more than one person involved," Ewatski said.
