Man charged after 6 hurt in head-on collision near Arthur, Ont.

A Brampton, Ont., man has been charged with careless driving and failing to share half the roadway after a head-on collision near Arthur on Monday evening.

A man has been charged after six people were injured in a head-on collision near Arthur, Ont., on Monday evening.

Emergency services were called to the two-vehicle collision on Wellington Road 109 between Sideroad 17 and Charles Street W. just after 7 p.m. ET.

Wellington OPP said a van with four people inside it collided with a truck occupied by two people.

One of the passengers of the van was airlifted to a trauma centre where police say they're being treated for "non-life-threatening, yet life-altering injuries."

The other three people in the van had minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

The two people in the truck were taken to hospital and had minor injuries.

The 36-year-old van driver, a Brampton man, was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with careless driving causing bodily harm and failure to share half the roadway for a meeting vehicle. He will appear in a Guelph courtroom at a later date.

Wellington Road 109 was closed for several hours for the investigation.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or has information, such as dashcam footage, that could help investigators to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
