Suspicious house fire in Cambridge under investigation

The Waterloo Regional Police Service says a house fire in Cambridge is under investigation "due to the nature of the incident." Emergency crews were called to the fire Thursday at 9 p.m.

A house fire in Cambridge Thursday night is being investigated as suspicious, police say.

Emergency crews were called to the area of Malcolm Street and Roseview Avenue at 9 p.m. for reports of a house fire. The home was cleared and the fire was extinguished, but the house saw major damage.

There were no reports of injuries.

Const. Chris Iden with Waterloo Regional Police Service confirmed the same home was involved in a shooting in June, "however the investigation remains ongoing and there has been no confirmation the two incidences are related."

The Waterloo Regional Police Service says that "due to the nature of the incident" the fire is being investigated as suspicious. Police are working with the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshall.
