One person was rushed to hospital in critical condition after being found inside a Winnipeg townhouse following a fire.
Emergency crews were called to the two-storey townhouse on the 100 block of Robson Street — between Stewin Avenue and Paul Martin Drive in the Transcona neighbourhood — just before 11 p.m. Monday.
They found heavy smoke coming from the unit and weren't able to enter until the fire was knocked down and under control at 11:40 p.m., according to a Tuesday news release from the city.
The person was then located and treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital.
Damage to the townhouse was primarily contained to the suite where the fire started, the city said.
The cause remains under investigation.
