Winter weather travel advisory issued for Waterloo region, fog advisory for Guelph-Wellington
Both areas also have a 60% chance of flurries on Thursday
Environment Canada has issued a winter weather travel advisory for Waterloo region.
The weather agency has also issued a fog advisory for Guelph-Wellington at the same time.
This comes after a special weather statement was issued because of rainfall in both areas.
Environment Canada says travelling through Waterloo region may be hazardous because of sudden changes in the weather.
"Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery... Icy and slippery conditions beginning near midnight as temperatures rapidly fall below the freezing mark," the government agency said in a notice posted online, adding that blowing snow could persist into Thursday evening.
Environment Canada says the fog advisory for the Guelph-Wellington area was issued because of dense fog causing near zero visibility.
In a notice posted online on Wednesday morning, Environment Canada said the foggy weather is expected to persist "now through this afternoon... into the evening for some areas".
There is a 60 per cent chance of flurries on Thursday with up to 4 cm of snow in Waterloo region, Guelph-Wellington and surrounding areas.
