Boil water advisory issued for parts of St. Thomas

Parts of St. Thomas were put under a boil water advisory Friday afternoon, following water samples that indicated the presence of bacteria in the municipal water supply.

The advisory will be in place until health officials get clean water tests back

Parts of St. Thomas were put under a boil water advisory on Friday afternoon, following water samples that indicated the presence of bacteria in the municipal water supply.

Southwestern Public Health issued the advisory as a precaution, and said it affects the following areas:

  • East Avenue. 
  • Chester Street.
  • West Avenue.
  • Devonshire Place. 
  • Balflour Street.
  • Ada Street.
  • Parkside Drive.
  • Bell Drive.
  • Henry Street.
  • Glenbanner Street.
  • Willow Street.
  • Wilson Avenue (#2–193).
  • Bush Line (40359).
  • Elm Street (#25–80). 
  • Palm Street (#4–17).
  • Sunset Drive (#126–188).
  • Pinafore Park.

Public health officials are advising residents and businesses to boil tap water for at least one minute before using it for drinking, brushing teeth, making baby formula or juice, washing raw foods, or making ice.

They say the advisory will be in effect until further notice, pending clean test results.
