Crash between semi, SUV backs up traffic on Trans-Canada Highway near Manitoba-Ontario border

A two-vehicle crash near the Ontario-Manitoba border has resulted in a partial closure of the Trans-Canada Highway, causing traffic delays for hours.

Two people were sent to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash near the Ontario-Manitoba border, causing traffic delays for hours on part of the Trans-Canada Highway. 

Ontario Provincial Police said the collision happened after 8 a.m. Saturday at Rocky Ridge Road near Clearwater Bay, a rural community about 170 kilometres east of Winnipeg.

A semi-truck and SUV crashed, police said on a social media post. Two people were taken to hospital and no information has been released about their conditions. 

OPP initially closed a section of the Trans-Canada Highway, but the eastbound lane was reopened at around 11:40 a.m.

A spokesperson for OPP said it is unclear when the highway will fully reopen.
