A 30-year-old motorcyclist was killed on the weekend when a three-ton truck turned in front of his bike.

RCMP say the motorcycle was heading south on Highway 9 at around 4 p.m. on Saturday in the rural municipality of St. Andrews.

The truck was turning westbound into Mitchell Bay when the crash happened.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Highway 9 was closed to both northbound and southbound traffic for a couple of hours as police investigated.

The 67-year-old driver of the truck had his licence suspended, RCMP said. Alcohol is also believed to be a factor on the part of the truck driver, police said.

The investigation is ongoing and no charges have yet been laid.
