A gun call brought a large police presence to a busy intersection in Winnipeg's West End on Tuesday morning.

A police spokesperson said they received a call a little after 8:30 a.m. about someone armed with a gun inside a building near Ellice Avenue and Sherbrook Street.

Several police cars, the tactical support unit and an ambulance were set up in the area for almost three hours.

Sherbrook, north of Ellice, was completely blocked to traffic until about noon.

The police spokesperson had no information on whether anyone was arrested or injured, or if any weapons were located.
