Police have confirmed the identity of a man whose remains were found on a rural Manitoba property last year and say they're investigating his death as a homicide.

The remains of Dimitar Rachev, 75, were found in the rural municipality of Rockwood on Nov. 21, 2024, Manitoba RCMP said in a news release on Monday.

Major crime services officers and a forensic anthropology team revisited the location on May 15 and did a secondary ground search.

Mounties say they want to speak with anyone who had contact with Rachev after Nov. 1, 2024.

RCMP also released two surveillance photos of a man who police believe may have information, and are asking for help finding him.

Anyone with information is asked to call Stonewall RCMP at 204-467-5591, or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 or by submitting a secure tip online at manitobacrimestoppers.com.
