Parts of western Manitoba are under a snowfall warning on Tuesday as a system moves in from Saskatchewan, Environment Canada says.

A total of 10 to 20 centimetres of snow is expected in parts of eastern Saskatchewan and western Manitoba, said the snowfall warning issued around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The Dauphin area, Riding Mountain National Park and areas west of Lake Manitoba are included in the warning.

The snowfall will be heavy at times, the warning said. Wet snow will begin to fall early Tuesday morning and intensify throughout the day, before the snowfall tapers off on Wednesday morning.

Buildups of snow will vary but greater accumulations of snowfall are expected on higher terrain.

Heavy snowfall can reduce visibility suddenly, Environment Canada warned.

Manitobans are advised to prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions, as well as for reduced visibility while driving. Anyone driving through reduced visibility should slow down, watch for tail lights and be ready to stop.
