Trio charged after machete attack on 15-year-old in Thompson, RCMP say

Three young people have been charged in connection with an early morning attack this week on a 15-year-old boy in Thompson, Man.

Three young people have been charged in connection with an early morning attack this week on a 15-year-old boy in Thompson, Man.

RCMP were called after an attack by a group, many carrying machetes, in an area off Duke Place in Thompson on Tuesday at 4:40 a.m., an RCMP news release said Friday.

The 15-year-old was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, including from machetes.

Mounties have arrested three people so far: a 16-year-old boy, a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man.

The 18-year-old was charged with aggravated assault and detained. The two others were released on a promise to appear in court in Thompson, which is about 650 kilometres north of Winnipeg.

RCMP are still investigating and expect to make more arrests.
