Winnipeg police investigate homicide of boy who died after shooting on Boyd Avenue near Andrews Street
Winnipeg police are investigating a homicide after a 16-year-old boy died from a gunshot wound.
Officers found a teenager with life-threatening injuries when they responded to a gun call on Boyd Avenue near Andrews Street around 6 a.m. Saturday, police said in a news release on Monday.
The teenager was taken to hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead.
Multiple police cars and a forensics vehicle were outside a residence surrounded by yellow tape on the corner of Boyd Avenue and Andrews Street on Saturday.
Family notifications have been made, police said.
A memorial with flowers, candles and photos of the teenager leaned against a tree near the residence on Sunday, with the phrases "Always loved" and "Long live."
