Man struck and killed on highway on Montreal's South Shore

A man died Wednesday night after being struck by a vehicle on a highway in Longueuil, on Montreal's South Shore.

A man died Wednesday night after being struck by a vehicle on a highway in Longueuil, on Montreal's South Shore.

The man was on Highway 132 when he was hit around 11:15 p.m., according to Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Ève Brochu-Joubert.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, a man in his 20s, was in a state of shock and taken to hospital, said the provincial police.

A section of the highway was closed following the incident. It was re-opened on Thursday at around 4:45 a.m., according to Brochu-Joubert.

Investigators are still trying to determine the cause and circumstances that led to the fatal event.
