Members of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Liberal party will soon elect the 15th premier of Newfoundland and Labrador. Ahead of that decision, Here & Now is hosting a 40-minute, uninterrupted debate on April 23 as John Hogan and John Abbott pitch why they should be the province’s next leader.

Members of Newfoundland and Labrador's Liberal Party will vote to elect its next leader — and the province's 15th premier — in just under two weeks.

On Wednesday, Here & Now will host a debate with the two leadership candidates, Windsor Lake MHA John Hogan and St. John's East-Quidi Vidi MHA John Abbott.

The 40-minute debate will air uninterrupted on CBC television during Wednesday's edition of Here & Now and will be moderated by host Carolyn Stokes. It will also be livestreamed on CBC Gem, the CBC N.L. YouTube channel and online at cbc.ca/nl.

The party will elect a new leader on May 3 during a two-day convention.
