New Waterford Valley High locked down after parking lot fight
Waterford Valley High School's secure school protocol was enacted Friday following a physical altercation on the school's ground.
An official message sent from the school administration did not go into the details of the fight, but just said it was a "serious" incident that may have involved the "potential use of weapons."
Whether anyone was injured in the incident is not yet known.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary and emergency medical services were called to the scene and the school was placed under secure school protocol as a result of the incident, according to the province's English School District.
Police have said that charges are pending for causing a disturbance and uttering threats.
The school's administration said that they are treating the incident extremely seriously and will be conducting its own review in to student safety and disciplinary action, in addition to cooperating fully with the RNC.
