2 Alberta men facing firearm, drug charges in Norman Wells, N.W.T.
Police say they seized a loaded stolen handgun and several types of drugs from a home
RCMP say they seized a loaded stolen handgun and several types of drugs from a rental home in Norman Wells, N.W.T., on Saturday.
In a news release Tuesday, police said they found 738 grams of what they believe to be crack cocaine, 19 grams of suspected methamphetamine, a small amount of prescription drugs, about 30 grams of cannabis, 18 cartons of unstamped cigarettes and a loaded handgun with two loaded magazines.
The handgun had previously been reported as stolen in Alberta.
Devon Salisbury, 37, and Robert Webber, 42, both from Alberta, face a variety of firearm and drug charges. At the time he was charged, Salisbury was on court conditions not to possess firearms and to stay at his home in Alberta.
Both are charged with possessing drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possessing property obtained by crime, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unsafely storing firearms, possessing a firearm while knowing they weren't authorized to, possessing a restricted firearm with ammunition without a licence, and possessing break-in instruments.
Salisbury also faces charges of failing to comply with release conditions, possessing weapons contrary to a court order, and obstructing a peace officer.
Both Salisbury and Webber remain in custody.
Three other people arrested at the home were released without charges.
