Man charged with manslaughter after fight at house party
Roman Bourque of Yellowknife charged with manslaughter in death of Ottawa man Emerson Curran
A 23-year-old man from Yellowknife has been charged with manslaughter after an Ottawa man died following a fight at a house party in Yellowknife last weekend.
RCMP said they interviewed more than 100 people who were at the party that night. Police aren't releasing any more information.
Roman Bourque was arrested six days after the Aug. 24 house party in the Range Lake area.
Emerson Curran of Ottawa was badly injured. The 20-year-old was taken to hospital in Yellowknife, then flown to an Edmonton hospital where he died.
Bourque spent one night in custody and was released into the care of his foster parents in Yellowknife.
His release conditions stipulate that he can't drink alcohol or go to bars and liquor stores, and he can't leave the Northwest Territories. Bourque also can't communicate with more than 20 people who saw the fight.
Bourque appeared in court Friday afternoon in Yellowknife. He is next scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 12.
