Police investigating suspicious fire in Inuvik believed to be connected to drug trade

Police say they believe the fire is connected to the illegal drug trade, and that so far – no suspect has been identified. They’re asking anyone with information or footage of the area between 8 and 9 a.m to contact them.

RCMP are investigating a suspicious fire that caused minor damage to a home in Inuvik, N.W.T., and that they believe is connected to the illegal drug trade. 

The Inuvik Fire Department was already on the scene extinguishing the fire, said police, when they responded to a call about it around 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Police said there had been four people in the home at the time, who all managed to leave safely. 

Once the fire was out, police said they started investigating the scene and found a liquor bottle with gasoline inside of it. They believe it had been used as a Molotov cocktail to start the fire.
