An Alberta man who was arrested earlier this year in relation to historical human trafficking cases in Nova Scotia is facing two additional charges.

RCMP arrested Darren Robert William Fisher, 36, in March in connection to several alleged incidents between 2007 and 2010.

Fisher initially faced 11 charges, including living off the avails of prostitution, making child pornography, sexual assault, uttering threats and drug-trafficking charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

At a court appearance Thursday, Fisher's lawyer was told he was facing two additional charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

At the time of the arrest in March, Cpl. Dave Lane of the RCMP's human trafficking unit said Fisher was arrested as part of an investigation looking into allegations of historical offences.

Lane would not say how many alleged victims there are because of a publication ban.

Fisher is scheduled to make his next appearance in Halifax provincial court on July 31.

  • An earlier version of this story said Fisher is facing 13 additional charges including living off the avails of prostitution, making child pornography, sexual assault, uttering threats and drug offences.
