Quinpool Road reopens after fire destroys building
Red Cross says it is providing emergency accommodations for 6 people

Quinpool Road reopened Saturday night after a fire in a two-storey building early Friday destroyed several business and drove several people from their homes.
No one was injured in the fire. The Red Cross of Canada said Saturday it was providing emergency accommodations for six people.
Jim Stymeist of the Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency Service fire crews left the fire scene at around 3:50 p.m on Saturday to allow vacuum trucks to collect and dispose of the water used to fight the blaze.
Stymeist said any last of the debris would be hosed down after that.

An alert sent on Friday said home and business owners in the area should keep windows and doors closed and "turn off systems that bring in air from the outside."
Quinpool Road was closed between Oxford Street and Preston Street. Crews demolished the building on Friday.
Four businesses — Naan n Curry, Quinpool Billiards, Define Hair Studio and Barbershop, and Misty Vapes — were located on the first floor.
The cause of the fire remains unknown.
