Kensington police say Park Road industrial building fire under investigation

Police say firefighters got to the blaze on Park Road quickly, but the fire still caused significant structural damage along the west side of the building, located next to Kenmac Auto Body.

'We're not ruling anything out at this point in time,' says Sgt. Jim Gotell

Kensington police are trying to figure out what caused a fire at an industrial building on Wednesday evening.

Police say firefighters got to the blaze on Park Road quickly, but the fire still caused significant structural damage along the west side of the building, located next to Kenmac Auto Body.

"If Kensington Fire Department hadn't arrived as quickly as they had, you know, it could have been significantly worse," said Sgt. Jim Gotell with Kensington Police Services.

This fire comes after a series of suspicious fires in western P.E.I., centred around the New Annan area.

Gotell said police are still in the preliminary of the investigation and want people to come forward with any information that might be relevant, by calling 902-836-4499 or messaging the force on Facebook.

"We're not ruling anything out at this point in time. So if there's any member of the public that happened to be in the area and captured video of the fire, we would like to see that video," he said.

Gotell said video footage could provide information about how the fire started, for example.
