Youth kayaker missing since Thursday found dead in Pictou County lake

Nova Scotia RCMP say the body of a youth kayaker who fell into the water Thursday evening was located Friday night. RCMP have not released his name or age.

Nova Scotia RCMP say the body of a kayaker who fell into the water Thursday evening was located Friday night.

RCMP have not released the name or age of the kayaker, who is a male youth.

On Thursday, two siblings were paddling in Eden Lake in separate kayaks when one of the kayaks overturned.

The search for the missing youth began around 5 p.m. AT Thursday, with multiple agencies responding. The search included a helicopter and drone.

Eden Lake is located in Pictou County.

In a statement Saturday, RCMP say divers found the body at 7:45 p.m. Friday.

RCMP do not believe there is a criminal factor in the death.
