Woman sexually assaulted on Cole Harbour trail

The RCMP are turning to the public for tips after a woman was attacked on a trail between Poplar Drive and Cranberry Crescent on Tuesday night.

A 44-year-old woman was attacked on a trail Tuesday night in Cole Harbour, N.S.

The RCMP said the woman was walking on the trail between Poplar Drive and Cranberry Crescent around 9 p.m. AT when she was approached from behind, assaulted and then sexually assaulted.

The woman managed to fight off her attacker and suffered minor injuries, police said in a news release Friday.

Police described the suspect as a man who is six feet tall, approximately 230 pounds with brown eyes. At the time of the attack, police said he had a goatee and was wearing a black hoodie with a white logo and a black ball cap.

Police are looking to speak with anyone who may know more about this incident or have video surveillance footage of the area.
