Ottawa police are seeking witnesses after a woman was struck and killed by a vehicle near the Train Yards shopping centre on Wednesday morning.

The victim was using a mobility device when they were struck near the LCBO on Industrial Ave, according to Ottawa police Duty Insp. Julie Mann.

The woman died at the scene. The driver, a man in his 20s, was not injured.

A photo viewed by CBC showed an overturned mobility scooter and a yellow tarp on the road. A white commercial van ringed with police tape sat nearby.

Industrial Avenue was closed between Russell Road and Trainyards Drive.

Paramedics received the call shortly after 9:35 a.m., according to a spokesperson.

It was the second fatal collision involving pedestrians in Ottawa in less than 24 hours. On Tuesday afternoon, one adult pedestrian was killed and another was critically injured when they were struck by a vehicle on Innes Road.

A woman in her 50s died last month after being struck by a truck on Smyth Road, less than two kilometres from the site of Wednesday's collision.
