A 36-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle on Highway 2 in Belleville, Ont., late Wednesday, according to city police. They're looking for a vehicle with a damaged windshield.

UPDATE: On Friday, July 4, 2025, Belleville police said they had arrested a 43-year-old Belleville man and charged him with failing to stop after an accident that caused a death.


A 36-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle on Highway 2 in east Belleville, Ont., late Wednesday, according to city police.

In a news release, Belleville police said they were called to Highway 2 east of Mitchell Road around 10:50 a.m., along with local firefighters and paramedics.

There they found an injured 36-year-old Belleville man who died after being taken to a hospital, they said. Police did not release his name.

Officers also said they found glass and unspecified debris scattered on the road, but no vehicle.

Anyone with information about a vehicle with a damaged windshield, or video footage from the area captured between 10:30 and 11:30 p.m., is asked to contact police.
