A pedestrian has died in a collision with a vehicle on Highway 401 near Mallorytown, Ont., according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

A pedestrian has died in a collision with a vehicle on Highway 401 east of Kingston, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
Emergency crews responded to calls around 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday that a person had exited a parked vehicle on the highway shoulder and been hit by another vehicle, the OPP said in a news release that afternoon.
It happened between Mallorytown and Lansdowne. The latter community is about 50 kilometres northeast of Kingston.
The highway near the scene remained closed for several hours to allow for a thorough investigation, the OPP said.
