One person was killed and another injured in a single-vehicle collision in Gatineau, Que., according to local police.

The collision happened around 3 a.m. Saturday on rue Laurier between rue de Verdun and boulevard des Allumettières in Hull, police told Radio-Canada.

It is too early to say what caused the collision, police said.

The injured victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said, while the other person was declared dead at the scene by first responders.

The two people involved in the collision were the only ones inside the vehicle, but police would not tell Radio-Canada whether the person who died was the passenger or the driver.

The scene of the crash was about one kilometre north of Parliament Hill, across the Ottawa River.
