One person was killed in a head-on collision between two transports early Friday morning on Highway 17 in Sudbury.

One person was killed in a head-on collision between two transports early Friday morning on Highway 17 in Sudbury. 

The second driver was transported to the hospital with serious, but non life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to the crash at around 1:15 a.m.

The highway remains closed in both directions from the Highway 69 junction to the Kingsway.

The OPP collision reconstructionist and the traffic collision investigation team are assisting with the investigation, to determine the cause of the crash.

Police have not released the two drivers' names.
