Man charged with attempted murder after stabbing in Hawkesbury

A 25-year-old Champlain Township man has been charged with attempted murder after another man was stabbed in Hawkesbury, Ont., on Thursday, Ontario Provincial Police said.

A 25-year-old Champlain Township man has been charged with attempted murder after another man was stabbed in Hawkesbury, Ont., on Thursday, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said.

Police said a 39-year-old man suffered stab wounds during the assault at Pioneers' Place, a small park near the Ottawa River and the bridge to Quebec.

OPP said an officer from its Hawkesbury detachment was flagged down outside a residence on Main Street E. around 5:30 p.m. and told about the stabbing.

Police provided first aid to the victim until paramedics arrived and took over. He was then transported to hospital with serious injuries.

"Officers located [and] arrested a suspect in the area without further incident," OPP said in a news release.
