Police investigating homicide in Lowertown

The Ottawa Police Service is investigating an alleged homicide that it says occurred on Heney Street Tuesday afternoon.

The Ottawa Police Service is investigating an alleged homicide at a townhouse in the city's Lowertown neighbourhood.

Emergency responders were called to a home on Heney Street around 4:40 p.m. after reports of an assault with an edged weapon, paramedics told CBC News.

An Ottawa paramedics spokesperson confirmed one adult was found dead at the scene, and another person was taken to hospital in stable condition. Police have not yet identified the victims.

A small group of neighbours huddled together crying Tuesday evening as they watched police. 

One person is in police custody, according to an OPS press release.

It went on to say that there is no risk to public safety.
