Motorcyclist killed in crash near Stittsville

A motorcyclist in his 40s was killed in a crash on Huntley Road in south Ottawa on Thursday afternoon, police say.

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Huntley Road in south Ottawa on Thursday afternoon, police say.

In a news release Friday, Ottawa police said emergency crews were called to Huntley Road near Mansfield Road just after 4 p.m. The callers said a motorcycle and SUV had collided.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene despite the efforts of both bystanders and first responders. Police have not identified the victim.

The occupants of the SUV were not injured, police said. The investigation continues.

The crash happened southeast of Stittsville, about 25 kilometres southwest of Ottawa's downtown.
