Searchers looking for missing boater south of Kingston

According to Ontario Provincial Police, emergency crews responded to a distress call Monday afternoon about a man who fell from a boat, struck his head on the propeller and did not resurface.

A search is underway for a boater who fell into the St. Lawrence River south of Kingston on Monday afternoon. 

According to an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) news release, emergency crews responded to a distress call about a man who fell from a boat, struck his head on the propeller and did not resurface. 

It happened near Milton Island, which is located off Kingston's southeast shore. 

The incident was witnessed by someone who was not in the boat, an OPP spokesperson told CBC. 

The Coast Guard and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre are helping police with the search.
