Man dies in crash with tractor-trailer in Ottawa's east end

A man is dead after in a collision between a car and tractor-trailer Tuesday night near the Ottawa-Rockland border.

A man is dead after a collision between a car and tractor-trailer Tuesday night near the Ottawa-Rockland border.

Emergency crews were called to Highway 174 between Canaan and Old Montreal roads shortly before 10 p.m., according to Ottawa paramedics.

The 40-year-old man was alone in the car and declared dead at the scene. He has not been named by police.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Ottawa police said Wednesday morning that stretch of road would be closed for several hours.
