Mayor's salary among data released
The final pay of Regina's departing city manager — $717,000 — was among the data disclosed in various 2015 financial reports that have been submitted to members of council, who are set to review the figures this week.
Glen Davies, the city manager since June 2006, retired on Nov. 1, 2015.
According to the public accounts, Davies received his base salary (for 10 months) of $248,081 and was also given $468,921 as "other" remuneration. The report said that may include credits for unused vacation or sick days as well as "amounts paid to an employee upon termination".
The public accounts show salaries of all civic employees and elected officials.
Mayor Michael Fougere was paid $111,275 in 2015.
In addition to the public accounts, other financial reports were released for scrutiny ahead of the Tuesday meeting of the finance committee of city council.
Here are some notable numbers from the documents:
- $2,975: Regina's debt per household for 2015. The debt was less than half that amount — $1,425 — in 2009. According to city's annual report, the increase is related to several large projects such as the stadium.
- $122 million: Payments made to PCL Regina Stadium, in 2015, for construction work on the city's new stadium. (More payments will be made as work progresses on the $278-million project).
- $657 million: Total revenue for the City of Regina in 2015. (About two-thirds of that — $445 million — was in the form of taxes and fees.)
The report also noted that municipal taxes are taking a bigger bite of household incomes. In 2009, the city was taking 2.09 per cent of household income as taxes. That increased, steadily, to reach 2.75 per cent in 2015.
