Police are searching for an inmate of Willow Cree Healing Lodge who escaped during an escorted trip in Saskatoon.

Leroy Desmond Daniels, 30, escaped while on an escorted temporary absence in the city, according to the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) news release.

The CSC statement doesn't state when Daniels escaped, but said the Willow Cree Healing Lodge was notified of the escape on Tuesday around 11:40 a.m. CST. How Daniels escaped is under investigation, according to CSC.

Daniels is serving a sentence of four years and seven months for robbery, disguise with intent, uttering threats and flight from a peace officer.

Anyone with information about Daniels' location should call local police or RCMP.

He is described as 5'7" and 117 lbs with a medium complexion, brown eyes and black hair. He has "LOYATIY" tattooed above his left eye, a rose on his left forearm, "306" on his left hand and "LOVE" spelled out on his left hand's fingers.

Willow Cree Healing Lodge is a minimum-security prison on Beardy's and Okemasis Cree Nation, about 90 kilometres north of Saskatoon.
