RCMP have arrested a teenage girl in connection with a fatal hit and run near Prince Albert.

At approximately 2:15 a.m. CST on Tuesday, police received a report of a body on Highway 11, just south of the MacDowall turnoff.

When they arrived, officers found a dead man. Police would determine the man had been hit by a vehicle in the southbound lanes.

Officers alerted the public later that day that they were trying to find the vehicle that hit the man, believing it to be a black Jeep with damage to its front end.

In a news release on Thursday, RCMP said they had located the Jeep on Beardy's & Okemasis Cree Nation on Wednesday.

A female teenager was arrested shortly after, RCMP said.

The teen, who can not be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with one count of failure to stop after an accident causing death.

She's set to appear in Prince Albert provincial court on June 18.

Police say the man has now been identified. He is not a Canadian citizen and efforts are underway to notify his next of kin.
