Greater Sudbury police say a pedestrian is dead following a collision with a train.

It happened Tuesday morning around 6:50 a.m. where the CP tracks cross Harry Crescent in the city's Minnow Lake neighbourhood.

Police say the 41-year-old woman who was hit was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name isn't being released at the request of her family.

The road was closed but has now reopened. Police say an investigation is ongoing.
