Swimmer struck by a boat in Sudbury, Ont., dies in hospital

A 52-year-old woman who was hit by a boat while swimming in Sudbury’s Lake Nepahwin has died.

A 52-year-old woman who was hit by a boat while swimming in Sudbury's Lake Nepahwin last Friday has died.

Greater Sudbury police said in a news release that a boat hit the woman Friday morning while she was swimming.

She was brought to the nearby Health Sciences North Hospital, where she was treated for "significant injuries" and was in critical condition.

Police said she succumbed to her injuries the next day.

"Our deepest condolences go out to her family and friends, and police will not be releasing her name out of respect for the family's wishes," Greater Sudbury police said in a statement.
