1 dead in Highway 89 crash in Cookstown, OPP say

One person is dead after a collision on Highway 89 in Cookstown, Ont., on Monday, Ontario Provincial Police say.

Police said emergency crews were called to the highway near 6th Line and County Road 56 for reports of a serious collision involving a truck trailer on fire.

Drivers were asked to avoid the area and plan a different route on Monday night while the investigation and cleanup were underway.
