Driver arrested, 5 in hospital after car hits parked vehicles and pedestrian in Scarborough

Five people are in hospital and a driver has been arrested after a car collided with several parked vehicles and a pedestrian in Scarborough on Sunday night, police and paramedics say.

Five people are in hospital and a driver has been arrested after a car collided with several parked vehicles and a pedestrian in Scarborough on Sunday night, police and paramedics say. 

The incident happened around 9:20 p.m. near Passmore Avenue and Middlefield Road, Toronto police said in a post on X on Sunday.

The driver, who police say is male, attempted to flee the area before he was arrested. He is in custody and is being investigated for impaired driving.

Ten vehicles were involved in the collision, police said. Some of the parked vehicles had people inside, they said.

The car also struck a female pedestrian who was taken to hospital with minor injuries, police said. 

Paramedics said five adults in total were taken to hospital, all with minor injuries. 

Toronto police were in the area on Monday morning towing damaged vehicles.
