1 dead, 2 injured after crash in Newmarket, police say

One person is dead and two others are injured after a dump truck, passenger vehicle and tractor trailer collided in Newmarket on Wednesday, police say.

One person is dead and two others are injured after a dump truck, passenger vehicle and tractor trailer collided in Newmarket on Wednesday, police say.

The crash happened in the area of Davis Drive W. and Dufferin Street, according to York Regional Police. Officers were called to the scene shortly after 10 a.m.

Police said one person was pronounced dead on the scene. Another was taken to a trauma centre with serious injuries. A third was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

York police's major collision unit is appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Davis Drive from Dufferin to Bathurst streets is closed while police invesitgate.
