1 dead after vehicle crashes into Pickering bus shelter

A woman is dead and a man has been seriously injured after a motorist crashed into a bus shelter in Pickering on Wednesday afternoon, police say. The incident happened around 2:30 p.m. at Kingston and Brock roads, police said in a news release Thursday.

A woman is dead and a man has been seriously injured after a motorist crashed into a bus shelter in Pickering on Wednesday afternoon, police say.

The incident happened around 2:30 p.m. at Kingston and Brock roads, police said in a news release Thursday.

A driver was travelling west in a white Chevrolet Cruze when they collided with two other westbound vehicles, police said. 

The Chevrolet left the road and collided with a bus shelter and two pedestrians. It then entered the road again and hit a third vehicle, the news release said. 

A woman, 31, was transported by paramedics to an air ambulance where she was pronounced dead, police said. The second victim, a 26-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries. 

All the involved drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with police, the news release said.
