Chatham-Kent police arrest man on child pornography offences

Chatham-Kent police say they’ve arrested a 41-year-old man in connection with child pornography offences.

The investigation dates back to November, police said

Chatham-Kent police say they've arrested a 41-year-old man in connection with child pornography offences.

The investigation dates back to November of 2024, the Chatham-Kent Police Service said in a news release issued Wednesday.

That was when the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children notified the force's internet child exploitation unit (ICE) that a Chatham-Kent resident was sharing child sexual abuse material on the social media platform, Kik Messenger.

In January, police executed a search warrant at a suspect's residence and seized several electronic devices.

The man has been charged with 

  • Possession of child pornography.
  • Accessing child pornography .
  • Making child pornography (in written format). 

He remains in custody pending a bail hearing, police said.
