Ontario's Special Investigations Unit has cleared a Windsor police officer who risked his own safety to save a man who died in a burning building in June 2016.

The police watchdog issued a statement Wednesday, which concluded police "risked their safety — despite hazards" to try and save the 47-year-old man who set fire in his home before officers arrived on scene.
