Blanket left on stove caused small Windsor house fire near university leaving 3 displaced

Damage is estimated at around $5,000 and was kept to a small area of the house near a mattress, officials said in an online post.

Fire officials in Windsor say a small house fire near the university was ignited by a blanket left on a stove.

The Tuesday blaze was at a residence on Randolph Avenue near Fanchette Street.

Everyone inside got out safely, according to Windsor Fire and Rescue Services, however, three people remain displaced for the time being.

Damage has been pegged at around $5,000, and was kept to a small area of the house near a mattress.
