Windsor police say they made 17 arrests and laid 22 charges over a recent three-day span at downtown apartment buildings on Glengarry Avenue.

The neighbourhood has been highlighted as one of the city's more dangerous areas.

From June 20 to 22, police say they targeted the buildings in partnership with the Windsor Essex Community Housing Corporation

A vehicle reported stolen in Waterloo was recovered during the raid.

Charges included break-and-enter and theft.

"These arrests are part of a broader high-visibility initiative by the Windsor Police Service and community partners aimed at improving quality of life on Glengarry Avenue — an area that faces challenges related to crime and social disorder," police said in a statement.

According to authorities, after the enforcement, nurses and crisis response teams were on site to provide "vital" resources, treat wounds and deliver other medical care.
