No one was injured, but there were near-misses when someone drove "erratically" through Windsor's downtown following the Ford fireworks show, police say.

Windsor police say a man has now been charged in the incident.

In a statement, police say a black Dodge Caravan was seen speeding through traffic control points and narrowly missing pedestrians around 11 p.m. Monday night.

The vehicle ignored traffic barriers, ran red lights, and drove onto sidewalks, passing "dangerously close" to several bystanders, according to police.

Police say they located the car and tracking it through the downtown core's restricted streets. In the process, police say it drove the wrong way on a one way street before eventually coming to a stop in front of Windsor police headquarters.

"Responding units quickly surrounded the vehicle. Upon exiting, the suspect screamed incoherently and resisted arrest," police said. "Officers were able to take the individual into custody without injuries."

A 33-year-old man now faces a dangerous driving charge. Police say he was remanded into custody until his next court appearance.

No one was injured in the incident.
