Windsor police have arrested a man after a downtown shooting early Wednesday morning.

Just after 3 a.m., police responded to a report of a person with a gun at a home in the 1200 block of Riverside Drive East, where they located a woman with a gunshot wound to her arm.

She was taken to hospital, but her injuries were not considered to be life-threatening, police said.

Officers identified a suspect who had left the scene before their arrival, and shortly before 5:30 a.m. located and arrested a 25-year-old man in the 200 block of Crawford Avenue.

He has been charged with aggravated assault, pointing and discharging a firearm recklessly, and failure to comply with a release order.

The Windsor Police Service's major crimes unit is investigating but investigators say they believe the incident was targeted.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
