Vancouver police investigating after man stabbed in back

A man was rushed to hospital with a stab wound to the back, after an incident in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside early Friday morning.

A man was rushed to hospital with a stab wound to the back after an incident in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside early Friday, according to the B.C. Ambulance Service.

The incident happened around 12:30 a.m. in the 100-block of East Hastings Street.

Vancouver police had a section of sidewalk behind yellow tape for about an hour, while a forensics investigator looked over evidence. 

Police have not said what may have led to the incident.

Staff at Insite, a supervised injection facility which was briefly closed, confirmed that the incident happened outside and was unconnected to the facility.
